Our latest find is a blockbuster red, a beauty called Clio, from Bodegas El Nido who are fashioning outstanding wines in Jumilla in south central Spain. The region is predominantly planted to Monastrell which we know as Mourvedre in France or Mataro in California and the sandy soils and very dry conditions produce robust and full bodied wines. This particular wine is luscious and extremely long on the palate with a deeply extracted color which hints at wonderful things to come. We consider this wine to be a bargain at $50.00 and the availability is adequate at this time. Also to be recommended is the big brother El Nido, $125.00 but in much shorter supply.
